Description
In 1959, journalist John Howard Griffin underwent a bold experiment to try and determine why blacks and whites were unable, or unwilling, to communicate with each other. Under the care of a dermatologist, Griffin darkened his skin and posed as a black man, deep in the heart of the south. His findings about the discrimination, hatred and hostility he faced on a daily basis proved to have a much more profound effect on him, and the country, than he could have ever imagined.
